During the air war in Southeast Asia (1965-1973), Untied States Air Force fighters were credited with destroying 137 MiGs in aerial combat. The two principal American fighters responsible for the vast majority of these MiG kills were the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II and the Republic F-105 Thunderchief. Of the 137 MiGs destroyed in air-to-air battles, 107 1/2 were shot down by the F-4 Phantom II. while 27 1/2 were credited to the F-105 Thunderchief. The other two enemy MiGs were credited to B-52 tail gunners.
There were 88 individual F-4 Phantoms and 25 individual Thunderchicfs credited with aerial combat victories. Presented in this book is what I believe may be the most complete photo collection of Phantoms and Thundcrchiefs credited with aerial victories during the Vietnam era.
